Welcome to Glasgow
We’re delighted to be bringing the Hospice UK National Conference to Scotland for the first time, and for our delegates to experience the fantastic, vibrant city of Glasgow.
As we get closer to the conference we’ll add information about places to eat and drink as well as ideas of things to do if you decide to extend your stay after the event finishes.
Accommodation
Glasgow Convention Bureau is the official accommodation provider for the conference and has negotiated specially discounted rates with a wide range of hotels.
Accommodation will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis and the published rates will be available until 10 October 2022.

Travel to and from Glasgow
Glasgow is in west-central Scotland. It’s Scotland’s largest city and is easily accessible from the rest of the UK and overseas by train, sea, road and air.

Glasgow is well connected by train from across the UK by 2 main stations:
- Glasgow Central Station links Glasgow to the south.
- Glasgow Queen Street Station operates routes mainly to Edinburgh
and the north. -
Glasgow has 3 international airports nearby, with connections across the UK and the world:
- Glasgow Airport is the closest airport to the city centre. Catch the
express bus service from outside the terminal and arrive in
Glasgow in around 15 minutes.

- Glasgow Prestwick Airport is 32 miles (51km) from Glasgow and
has handy public transport links to the city centre, including train
and bus services.

direct bus service from the airport to Glasgow’s Buchanan Bus
Station which takes around 1 hour.

Travel around Glasgow
The Scottish Event Campus is located just outside Glasgow city centre in the west-end. The campus is accessible by numerous transport options.

Glasgow is a very walkable city, especially the city centre, so you can easily explore it on foot whilst taking in the beautiful buildings and architecture around you – don’t forget to 'look up' when you're in the city.

The SEC has its own dedicated railway station – Exhibition Centre – allowing easy access from the city centre and suburbs. There are six trains an hour (around every 10 minutes) from Glasgow Central station, departing from Platform 17 (low level).
For local rail travel from the city centre to the SEC, there is the ScotRail Conference Rover ticket - £5 for up to 5 days of travel. A cheap and quick way to get from the SEC to the centre of Glasgow.

There is a Glasgow Taxis pick-up and drop-off point outside the OVO Hydro and several taxi ranks throughout the city.
The distinctive black cabs can accommodate five or six people. If their yellow light is on you can flag them down on the street. Alternatively, you can call +44 (0) 141 429 70 70 or visit the Glasgow Taxis website to book.

The multi-storey parking is operated by Glasgow City Council.
