Hospice UK responds to Welsh Government support for hospices

Hospice UK is delighted that the Welsh Government has recognised the importance of hospices in the COVID-19 response and the role they play in taking pressure of the NHS.
This new money will enable us to support the current response to the pandemic.
Tracey Bleakley, Hospice UK CEO, says:
"During this challenging time, hospices continue with their vital work delivering end of life care to all people with terminal conditions, no matter what their illness.
"Hospices across Wales have stepped up during this pandemic to support our colleagues across the NHS by ensuring people can remain at home, or be discharged from hospital, when this is in their best interests clinically and personally.
Trystan Pritchard, Hospices Cymru Chair and CEO of St David’s Hospice, says:
"Charitable hospices have been doubly hit by an increase in need for our support and the suspension of our fundraising activities during the COVID-19 pandemic.
"This funding from the Welsh Government is the lifeline we need to keep the hospice sector up and running during this unprecedented time."
Mae Hospice UK wrth ei fodd bod Llywodraeth Cymru wedi cydnabod pwysigrwydd hosbisau wrth ymateb i bandemig COVID-19 a’u rôl wrth gymryd pwysau oddi ar y Gwasanaeth Iechyd.
Bydd yr arian newydd hwn yn ein galluogi i gefnogi’r ymateb cyfredol i’r pandemig.
Dywed Tracey Bleakley, Prif Swyddog Gweithredol Hospice UK:
"Yn ystod yr amser heriol hwn mae hosbisau’n parhau gyda’u gwaith hanfodol yn darparu gofal i bawb sydd â chyflyrau terfynol, waeth beth fo’u salwch.
"Mae hosbisau ledled Cymru wedi camu i’r adwy yn ystod y pandemig hwn i gefnogi ein cydweithwyr ar draws y GIG trwy sicrhau y gall pobl aros gartref, neu gael eu rhyddhau o’r ysbyty, pan fydd hyn er eu budd yn glinigol ac yn bersonol."
Dywed Trystan Pritchard, Cadeirydd Hosbisau Cymru a Phrif Swyddog Gweithredol Hosbis Dewi Sant:
"Mae hosbisau elusennol wedi cael eu taro ddwywaith gan gynnydd yn yr angen am ein cefnogaeth ac atal ein gweithgareddau codi arian yn ystod pandemig COVID-19. Yr arian hwn gan Lywodraeth Cymru yw’r achubiaeatah sydd ei hangem arnom i gadw’r sector hosbisau ar waith yn ystod yr amser digynsail hwn.
