Toby Porter, Chief Executive of Hospice UK said: "We welcome measures from the Chancellor’s Autumn statement which focus on support for people during the cost of living crisis. People at end of life are facing the sharp end of rising costs, often living with reduced household income, higher energy bills and expensive care.
"It is vital that people with palliative and end of life care needs are prioritised. They must not become a casualty of stretched services and we look forward to working with Government to ensure this is the case.
"We’re encouraged by the focus on public services, including the NHS. As central partners to the health and care system, hospices have a vital role to play in ensuring high quality care for patients. But hospices need to be in a strong position to continue to deliver this care and many are facing very real challenges as a result of the cost of living crisis. Hospices are still waiting to hear if they will receive further support with their energy bills after April 2023 and we will continue to advocate for them to be included in future support so they can continue to provide essential care for their patients."
