Job description
Are you an experienced Occupational Therapist who is passionate about empowering and enabling those with life-limiting conditions to maximise their quality of life until death? Here at Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice, we are seeking a dedicated, motivated, and enthusiastic Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our growing Rehabilitation and Wellbeing Team.
This is a fantastic opportunity to play an important part in the palliative and end of life care services offered across South East London. At the hospice we believe that every dying person in Greenwich and Bexley should have the best care, support and quality of life possible and that our role is to lead the way by giving expert rehabilitation, support and education to people with terminal illness, their families, friends and professional carers.
In this role you will work with a rehabilitative palliative care ethos across a variety of settings:
-
The Woodlands Unit: our 13-bedded inpatient unit with people admitted for end of life care and/or symptom control;
-
Outpatients: one-to-one or in groups in the rehab gym, outpatient clinics, online via Zoom/Teams, or as part of the Wellbeing provision;
-
The community: providing specialist advice to our community colleagues, visiting those requiring specialist palliative OT input at home, and supporting discharges from our inpatient unit, providing follow-up visits where necessary.
The hospice’s services and support extend outside of these settings into care homes, prisons and into the local hospital too. As well as providing our own services, our colleagues also work in partnership with other health and care organisations to help people maintain connections with their community and to maximise their quality of life.
We are looking for a creative and dynamic Occupational Therapist to join our team to provide holistic, person-centred rehabilitation: rehabilitating from patient to person. Supporting people to live, and die, well.
If you would like to discuss this role further, or would like to make an informal visit, please contact Hannah Doubleday, Rehabilitation and Wellbeing Team Lead, (hannahdoubleday@gbch.org.uk) on 020 8320 5791, or recruitment@gbch.org.uk .
Salary: GBCH Band 6 £35,763 - £46,825 (Full time equivalent)
Hours: 0.6 WTE (22.5 hours per week). Flexible working considered. Full-time hours considered for the right candidate.
We are an equal opportunities employer and are committed to inclusion. We celebrate and embrace diversity and thus encourage applications from a variety of backgrounds, perspective, knowledge and skills
Please note that only short-listed candidates will be contacted.
