Job description
Head of Nursing and Quality – Specialist Palliative Care
St Nicholas Hospice Care provides specialist palliative and end of life support for the people of West Suffolk and Thetford. This is delivered in our patient’s homes, in their communities and at our hospice in Bury St Edmunds, by a multi-professional team. Our goal is to support the principles of palliative care and our mission – to strive for something better in the provision of high quality specialist palliative care, emotional, and practical support, so that no-one West Suffolk and Thetford has to face dying, death and grief alone.
We are a well-known provider locally and as we approach our 40th anniversary we are working to extend our reach and develop our services in response to need. This includes the development of a senior clinical team, which is able to meet the challenges faced by the independent health care sector, with confidence.
We are recruiting a Head of Nursing and Quality into my leadership team. With extensive experience of care delivery in both community and inpatient settings, the successful candidate will have an understanding of the complexities of palliative care and management of long-term conditions. Strong leadership skills will be evident and the ability to support and implement change whilst demonstrating clinical quality outcomes, are essential. We are looking for a senior nurse who practices compassionate leadership, with the will to improve services for our beneficiaries.
This post holder will report directly to myself, Sharon Basson, Clinical Services Director and be part of the clinical and wider hospice Leadership Teams. They will benefit from working alongside multi-professional clinical teams and leaders who, despite working under pressure, deliver their best every day because they understand that we have only one chance to deliver good palliative and end of life care. The successful candidate will be welcomed into the new senior team and begin their career with us by embarking on a robust and individualised plan of induction, developed and agreed prior to the start date.
Please do not hesitate to contact me to discuss this opportunity more fully by email in the first instance, to sharon.basson@stnh.org.uk, or by phone: 01284 766133
Closing date and shortlisting: 12th June 2023
Interview date: 20th June 2023 PM
