Overall:

All figures should be prepared on a consolidated basis (i.e. they should incude figures from any trading subsidiaries in your group)

All figures should also be cumaltive (e.g. If your payroll budget is £1M per quarter, then in Q1 enter £1M, in Q2 enter £2m, in Q3 enter £3M etc)

There is no requirement to split restricted and unrestricted income & expenditure

Income:

All income should be split between the six categories highlighted

Other fundraising income is intended for any income generation other than lotter & retail - so things like donations, grants from charitable trusts, event sponsorship etc

Other income is intented for any miscellaneous income you receive which you don't actively fundraise for - so things like investment income

Expenditure

With the exception of depreciation, all expenditure should be split between payroll & non payroll, and also between care, retail, other fundraising & support

Payroll costs should include gross pay, NI and pensions for all your employees. Any costs of agency staff should be shown as a non payroll cost

Care costs include any costs that can directly be attributed to patient care, including any medicine costs

Support costs include any costs that cannot be directly attributed to either patient care or income generation. Examples might include finance, IT, HR etc

All depreciation should be shown in a separate category.

Cash Balance

Please include any cash at bank, including amounts held on deposit for specific time periods, but not any cash held by your investment managers.

Investments Balance

Current valuation, including any cash held by the investment manager

Free reserves

We are aware that hospcies may all be using slightly different definitions of reserves. For this purpose, please enter the total £ value of all the reserves held by your group, but excluding any restrcited reserves and any reserves represented by the value of your tangible fixed assets.
