Deutsche Bank employees have raised £722,000 for charity Hospice UK to help people up-and-down the country access vital hospice and end of life care and support.

The bank dedicated its 14th annual One Day fundraising campaign to Hospice UK, its UK Charity of the Year for 2020 and 2021.

This year’s event moved online to adhere to COVID restrictions, with employees pledging to donate a day’s salary to the cause.

Deutsche Bank employees joined ITV Political Editor and Vice President of Hospice UK, Robert Peston and the charity’s CEO, Tracey Bleakley for ‘A Conversation With’ event with palliative care expert Dr Rachel Clarke, and took part in a virtual quiz with a host of celebrity stars, including BAFTA winning comedien, Jo Brand, cricketer Monty Panesar and DJ Fatboy Slim.

The money raised by Deutsche Bank will help Hospice UK work across the healthcare system, alongside colleagues in the NHS and in care homes, hospitals and communities, to help reach people who desperately need expert hospice and end of life care.

This could include grants for hospices to extend their bereavement services, helping the growing number of families losing loves ones to COVID-19; digital training sessions for hospices to help them share their knowledge with local hospitals; and access to Hospice UK’s equality, diversity and inclusion programme to help hospices reach everyone who needs them, regardless of who they are.

Hospice UK’s Director of Income Generation, Catherine Bosworth said: “Since the start of the year we have benefited immensely from the unwavering support and generosity of everyone at Deutsche Bank.

"It has been incredible to see such dedication from so many people across the business to help raise money and awareness for Hospice UK. One Day is such an amazing event, and raising over £722,000 during these uncertain times is truly inspiring. We are so grateful for the bank’s support."

Deutsche Bank’s Global Head of Brand & CSR, Lareena Hilton said "I am delighted our flagship fundraising event, One Day, has raised over £722,000 for Hospice UK.
